Readers interested in learning more about early Missouri maps may wish to examine this selection. The Herman Dunlop Smith Center for the History of Cartography at the Newborn Library compiled this Checklist as a way to seek out and catalogue one original copy of all cartographic records of Missouri or any of its parts printed before 1901. Approximately 4,000 maps of Missouri are included in volume 9 of the Checklist. We have learned in this checklist significantly underrepresents Missouriís maps and emphasizes the reason that work needs to continue in the identification of each Missouri maps.
