SITE-SEEING
This month we highlight webpages of interest to genealogists researching ancestors who lived in Illinois, the focus of this issue. Listings provide the site names, URLs, and any other information we feel might prove helpful.

Virtual Illinois Catalog
(www.vic.lib.il.us).
This website allows you to search the catalogs of 600 public, academic, and special libraries throughout Illinois. You can do a statewide search or specify one of nine regions (i.e., Eastern Illinois) or one of 12 places (i.e., Springfield area). VIC provides a report that shows owning libraries, call number, and the current status of the item (i.e., In, Non-Circulating, etc.).

The Illinois State Archives (www.sos.state.il.us/departments/archives/ archives.html ). From the home page, you can search the catalog of the State Archives, read through its genealogical research pamphlet series, learn about the Illinois Regional Archives Depository system (IRAD), or search its on-line databases. The on-line database includes Illinois Civil War soldiers and Illinois soldiers and sailors involved in other 19th-century wars.
