OUR TOWN

Our Town is a feature that will do several things. It will list upcoming genealogical events in the metro area. It will also contain the addresses, phone numbers, and website and e-mail addresses of area institutions with resources genealogists may find helpful.

Genealogy in the Classroom, a program sponsored by St. Louis Public Library, will be held at the Central Library, 1301 Olive Street, St. Louis, MO 63103. This program will take place on Tuesday, July 24, 2001, from 10 AM-3 PM in Meeting Room 1. The program will introduce elementary and secondary school teachers to basic genealogical materials and research methods. There will be a lunch break at noon when program participants may eat lunch in the Central Library-West cafeteria next door, or at a variety of restaurants in the downtown area. To register, call 314-539-0385 or email: webref@slpl.lib.mo.us.

St. Louis Mercantile Library, University of Missouri at St. Louis, Thomas Jefferson Library, 8001 Natural Bridge Road, St. Louis, MO 63121. 314-516-7247. The collection includes materials on in-land waterways and steamboats, rail transportation, and the St. Louis Globe-Democrat “morgue”.
