Adela Riek Scharr - The Adela Riek Scharr Endowment

Mrs. Adela Riek Scharr stated that two of the great loves of her life had been flying and reading. Mrs. Scharr found a way to combine these two loves. In 1990, she established the Adela Riek Scharr Endowment at the St. Louis Public Library.

The endowment funds programs, displays, and exhibits to educate and excite children and adults in the fields of aviation. As part of the endowment, the Adela Riek Scharr Medallion is awarded each year to a qualified recipient who has contributed to these fields.

The St. Louis Public Library and all the people who will benefit as a result of this endowment express gratitude for the foresight and generosity of its founder:
