| Mrs. Adela Riek Scharr received
the Adela Riek Scharr Medallion in 1990 as part of the St. Louis Public Library's Aviation
History Month activities. She was honored for being the first woman flight instructor at
Lambert Field, one of the original members of the Women's Auxiliary Ferrying Squadron
(WAFS) during World War II and a member of the Women's Air Force Service Pilots (WASPS)
when the WAFS and WASP merged in 1943. A dinner was held in her honor, on March 28, 1990.
