The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Continues at Central

Have you followed the Yellow Brick Road to Central
yet? If not, you’ll want to step into your ruby slippers, put Toto in his basket, and head to Central Library for The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Travelling Exhibition. Now through July 31 you can experience Oz as never before! Based on L. Frank Baum’s classic book, the exhibit is a larger than life “pop-up book” that dazzles the eyes and stimulates the minds of children ages 2-12.

There is plenty for adults to see and do too. Nostalgia buffs will enjoy an exhibit of Oz memorabilia in the Display Cases in Central’s Great Hall. “The Great Twisters of St. Louis,” a photo and artifact exhibit documenting the infamous St. Louis storm, are on display in the Carnegie Room. Plus there are activities and events for kids and adults at Central and throughout the system.

You’ll want to collect all four of the The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Travelling Exhibition bookmarks. Available now are Dorothy & Toto and the Tin Man. Come back to pick up the Scarecrow in mid-June and the Cowardly Lion will be available in early July

Be sure to visit or pick up The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Programming Guide at any Library location to discover magical activities that are taking place all summer long.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was developed by the Great Explorations Children's Museum
and is supported in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
