As
part of the Library's ongoing reading initiative for teens, we've chosen
Kekla Magoon as the Spring 2013 Read It Forward author. You can meet her
when she discusses her book, The Rock and the River, on March 13 from
6-7 p.m. in Central's Children's
Library.
The Rock and the River was the 2010 ALA Coretta Scott King
New Talent Award winner. Its companion novel, Fire in the Streets (as
well as Camo Girl and 37 Things I Love), was released in 2012.
Magoon
also writes nonfiction on historical topics, including Today the World is
Watching You: The Little Rock Nine and the Fight for School Integration,
1957-58.
