50th Wedding Anniversary of Michael and Sandra Pfefferkorn

Whereas, Michael and Sandra Pfefferkorn celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 15, 2013; and

Whereas, Sandra is a life-long resident of the City of St. Louis and a graduate of the St. Louis Public Schools. She attended Meramec Elementary and graduated from Cleveland High School. Michael has lived in St. Louis for over 50 years; and

Whereas, Michael and Sandra served a combined total of 83 years as educators in the St. Louis Public School System. Sandra taught English and Spanish at Cleveland Jr. Naval Academy and at Central High School. She taught the first Advanced Placement English Literature class at Cleveland NJROTC. Michael taught History and Social Studies at Gateway, Southwest and Cleveland High School. He co-wrote the course of study for Ethics in Science and Technology, which was taught exclusively at Gateway Institute of Technology. He received the honor of Secondary School Teacher of the Year in 1999; and

Whereas, Sandra is a former president of Beta Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She is an avid reader and volunteers as a reading tutor. Michael is a past president of the Missouri Numismatic Society and the World Coin Club of Missouri. He is a co-founder of the Ancient Coin Study Group. He was the founder and editor of the Missouri Journal of Numismatics. He is also a co-author of Chits, Chiselers, and Funny Money, which is a history of sales tax tokens in the United States; and

Whereas, Michael and Sandra are proud parents of Michael Jr. and Patricia. They have four grandchildren: Sarah, Colin, Molly and Allison.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis that we pause in our deliberations to recognize the 50th wedding anniversary of Michael and Sandra Pfefferkorn and wish them continued happiness and we further direct the Clerk of this Board to spread a copy of this Resolution across the minutes of these proceedings and to prepare a commemorative copy to the end that it may be presented to our honorees at a time and place deemed appropriate by the Sponsor.
