|Resolutions adopted during the 2012 session by the St. Louis City

WHEREAS, we have been apprised that Barbara Turkington will be receiving a Civic Leadership Award at the St. Louis Community Empowerment Foundation's 10th Annual Salute to Women in Leadership on May 16, 2013; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Turkington received her undergraduate degree in German from North Carolina Central University. She earned an MS in Education degree from University of Nebraska-Omaha before serving in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Turkington was the owner of MediaLink, a public relations and marketing firm that specialized in small business development and is now Assistant Director for Advancement at St. Louis County Library; and
WHEREAS, Barbara Turkington serves on the board of Directors for Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis, Women of Achievement, SSM Healthcare, Deaconess Foundation, Advisory Council-St. Louis Community College, Women's Leadership Council University of Missouri, St. Louis, YWCA-Greater St. Louis, Dance St. Louis, Focus St. Louis, Missouri Women's Forum; St. Louis Women's Forum, River Bluff Girl Scout Council, Lambert USO, Presidents' Advisory Board-St. Louis Girl Scout Council and Food Outreach.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis that we pause in our deliberations to recognize Barbara Turkington and we wish her continued success, achievement and accomplishment and we further direct the Clerk of this Board to spread a copy of this Resolution across the minutes of these proceedings and to prepare a commemorative copy to the end that it may be presented to our honorees at a time and place deemed appropriate by the Sponsor.
