|Resolutions adopted during the 2012 session by the St. Louis City
Board of Aldermen have been converted to electronic format by the staff of the St. Louis

WHEREAS, we have been apprised that Chaka Khan will be receiving a Special Award for Lifetime Achievement at the St. Louis Community Empowerment Foundation's 10th Annual Salute to Women in Leadership on May 16, 2013; and
WHEREAS, internationally known as the "Queen of Funk-Soul", Chaka Khan is a 10-time Grammy Award winning American singer-songwriter whose career has spanned four decades; and
WHEREAS, her signature hits, both with Rufus and as a solo performer, include "Tell Me Something Good", "Sweet Thing, "Ain't Nobody", "I'm Every Woman", "I Feel for You" and "Through the Fire"; and
WHEREAS, on May 19, 2011, Khan was given the 2,440th Hollywood Walk of Fame star plaque on a section of Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis that we pause in our deliberations to recognize Chaka Khan and we wish her continued success, achievement and accomplishment and we further direct the Clerk of this Board to spread a copy of this Resolution across the minutes of these proceedings and to prepare a commemorative copy to the end that it may be presented to our honorees at a time and place deemed appropriate by the Sponsor.
