WHEREAS, Reggie Jones was born and raised in the 27th Ward in the City of St. Louis, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Reggie is the youngest of six children born to Frank and Ann Jones; and

WHEREAS, he is currently the President of the St. Louis Junior Football League, which is an organized tackle football league serving over 3,000 children in the St. Louis Metropolitan and Bi-State area; and

WHEREAS, Reggie has been elected to three offices: in 2010 he was elected to the Riverview Gardens School District Board, in 2011 he was elected to the Office of Collector for the City of Dellwood; and in 2012 he was elected to the office of Dellwood Alderman for the Third Ward. On April 2, 2013, he became the first African-American male elected Mayor for the City of Dellwood; and

WHEREAS, Reggie remains involved with the Riverview Gardens School District by serving on the Community Action Committee and as a consultant to the St. Louis Gateway Classic Foundation. He is employed at the boys and Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis as a Club Director and has been with the organization for 17 years; and

WHEREAS, he was recently honored by the ST. LOUIS AMERICAN as one of the top 20 young professionals in St. Louis; and

WHEREAS, Reggie attends Mt. Sunny Mount Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, he is happily married to Rukiya Jones and has four children: Melvin, Shambria, Koby and Rajae, and one grandson, Dalen.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis that we pause to recognize the achievement and success of Reggie Jones and we direct the Clerk of this Board to spread a copy of this Resolution across the minutes of these proceedings and to prepare a commemorative copy for presentation to the honoree, at a time and place deemed appropriate by the Sponsor
