Dr. Les Bond

WHEREAS, we pause in our deliberations to recognize Dr. Les Bond as an exceptional physician and civic leader, who for over 50 years practiced medicine and served the citizens of Saint Louis in numerous appointed offices with passion, dedication and professionalism; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Les Bond was widely admired for his surgical skills and warm caring bedside manner and was an active practicing physician on the staffs of Christian Hospital, DePaul Hospital and Barnes Hospital and served as Medical Director of Peoples Health Center; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Bond held leadership positions in the National Medical Association, the Mound City Medical Forum, the Homer Phillips Alumni Association and Chaired the State of Missouri Physicians-Pharmacists Medicaid Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Bond was recognized and honored as Health Professional of the Year by the United Way and the Salute to Excellence in Healthcare by the St. Louis American Foundation; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career Dr. Bond was involved in the civic and community affairs of the city of St. Louis by serving on the St. Louis Police Board, the St. Louis Police Retirement Board and co-chaired the commission to improve the Metropolitan Sewer District; and

WHEREAS, first and foremost Les was a family man, married to Anita for 58 years and nurtured and guided his children, grandchildren, in-laws, nieces, nephews and countless other young men, women and children to successful, healthy and productive lives.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis that we pause to remember the many contributions of Dr. Les Bond to the citizens of the City of St. Louis and we join with his many friends in expressing our sorrow at his passing, and we further direct the Clerk of this Board to spread a copy of this Resolution across the minutes of these proceedings and to prepare a memorial copy for presentation to the Bond family, at a time and place deemed appropriate by the Sponsor.
