Charles (Charlie) Waalkes
WHEREAS, Charles (Charlie) Waalkes is retiring after a long and distinguished career in the financial services industry; and
WHEREAS, Charlie is retiring as Senior Vice President of Operations from Anheuser Busch Employees Credit Union (ABECU); and
WHEREAS, prior to joining Anheuser Busch Credit Union he was the President of St. Louis Telephone Employees /Meridian Credit Union; and
WHEREAS, he worked in the banking business until 1986 when he "saw the light" and began his "credit union" career; and
WHEREAS, Charlie has served as the primary legislative advocate for ABECU on the local, state and national level; and
WHEREAS, one of Charlie's proudest moments occurred in 2010 during a golfing outing when he shot a hole in one in front of his boss, Dave Osborn; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career Charlie has had the love and support of his spouse Randa, his daughter Tracy and sons Todd and Kent.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis that we pause in our deliberations to recognize and praise the tremendous contributions Charlie Waalkes has made to his credit union family, the financial services industry as a whole, numerous elected officials and to our community. We further direct the Clerk of this Board to spread a copy of this Resolution across the minutes of these proceedings and to prepare a commemorative copy to the end that it may be presented to our honoree at a time and place deemed appropriate by the Sponsor.
