Kathy Hall
WHEREAS, Kathy Hall has been a stellar Cub Master and Scoutmaster for over 35 years; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Hall began her scouting career as a Den Mother for pack 213 at Mount Bethel MB Church; and
WHEREAS, as a scout leader Ms. Hall provided the young men of her troop an opportunity to try new things, provide service to others, build self-confidence, and reinforce ethical standards; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Hall in 1985 became the first African American female Scoutmaster in the United States; and
WHEREAS, in addition Kathy is the first female to become an Order of the Arrow Member as well as first African American female to be selected for the Wood Badge staff; and
WHEREAS, she is a member of the St. Louis Catholic Archdiocese Scouting Committee and has acquired a B.S. in Commissioners Training; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Hall is a Cub Master and Scoutmaster for Pack 220 which is associated with St. Elizabeth Mother of John the Baptist Catholic Church.
WHEREAS, among the many awards she has received, she received the District Award of Merit in 1988.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis that we pause in our deliberations to recognize and praise the tremendous contributions Ms. Kathy Hall has made to the Scouting program and to the entire community. We further direct the Clerk of this Board to spread a copy of this Resolution across the minutes of these proceedings and to prepare a commemorative copy to the end that it may be presented to our honoree at a time and place deemed appropriate by the Sponsor.
