| Resolutions adopted during the 2009 session by the St. Louis City

WHEREAS, we have been apprised that Officer Jared Scheel was selected by his peers as the 2009 Officer of the Year for the Second District; and
WHEREAS, Officer Scheel is an eight year veteran of the police department, having served in the Second District since 2007; and
WHEREAS, during his tenure in the second district, Officer Scheel served as a field training officer, instructing police recruits. He was recently chosen by the Captain and assigned to the Burglary Detail Squad; and
WHEREAS, Officer Scheel has been a true asset to the District, he was chosen twice as Officer of the Month in 2009, affecting the arrest of 66 subjects and assisting in an additional 76 arrest, resulting in a total of over 162 felony, misdemeanor and city charges; and
WHEREAS, Officer Scheel's current assignment has allowed him to utilize his investigative and interview skills contributing to the arrest and prosecution of more than 30 residential burglars; and
WHEREAS, Officer Scheel and his wife, Dalia, recently celebrated the birth of their first child.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen of the City of St. Louis that we pause in our deliberations to congratulate Officer Jared Scheel on his recognition and we wish him continued success and achievement and we further direct the Clerk of this Board to spread a copy of this Resolution across the minutes of these proceedings and to prepare a commemorative copy to the end that it may be presented to our honoree at a time and place deemed appropriate by the Sponsor.
