| Resolutions adopted during the 2009 session by the St. Louis City

WHEREAS, in light of a recent news report by Channel 2 News February 23, 2010, it was reported there was questionable treatment of animals at the St. Louis Animal Control Center; and
WHEREAS, the information reported was disturbing, heart breaking and deserves some inquiry by the Health and Human Services Committee of the Board of Aldermen; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen would like to ask questions of the Commissioner regarding management practices, polices, treatment on a day to day basis of stray animals at the Animal Control Center; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen would like a hearing next week to discuss policies, procedures, & issues raised in the recent news report to assure the citizens of St. Louis that the Animal Control Center are treating the stray animals humanely.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Aldermen for the City of St. Louis that we direct the Health and Human Services Committee to convene a hearing for the purpose of discussing policies, procedures, and issues raised in the recent news report so as to assure the citizens of St. Louis that the Animal Control Center are treating the stray animals humanely.
