Chapter 23.50
Fire Alarm Wires

23.50.010 Authority to maintain.

Permission and authority are granted to any person upon the terms and conditions stated in this chapter, to string, maintain and operate overhead wires, communicating alarms automatically to the fire department or indicating the working of automatic sprinklers in buildings.

23.50.020 Bond.

Before any wire provided for in Section 23.50.010 is strung, the person stringing such wire shall file with the register a good and sufficient penal bond in the sum of ten thousand dollars.

The bond shall be conditioned as follows:

A. All regulations shall be complied with in all the work contemplated being done;

B. A permit for the stringing of such wire shall be applied for and obtained from the board of public service before the work is commenced;

C. Such wire shall be used for no other purpose;

D. The written consent of the owner of any property over which the wire is strung shall be obtained and filed with such application for a permit.

23.50.030 Poles--Tax.

Nothing in this chapter shall authorize persons to set poles in any street, alley or public place. The city shall have the right, at any time, to tax such persons for the wire strung under the authority of this chapter and to alter, amend or repeal this chapter.
