Curfew in Parks

22.18.010 Persons prohibited in parks during designated hours.

No person shall loiter, idle, wander, stroll, play or otherwise be in or upon the confines of any public park or playground or the public areas immediately adjacent thereto between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. throughout the year.

22.18.020 Exceptions to curfew regulation.

The curfew imposed in Section 22.18.010 shall not apply to any person who is occupying such public park or playground under the provision of a special use permit granted by the board of public service or the director of parks, recreation and forestry, nor shall it apply to persons using a public right-of-way as a means of continuous travel through such public park or playground from an entrance to a separate exit or to public employees while engaged in the performance of their duties.

22.18.025 Mt. Pleasant Park.

A. Notwithstanding Ordinance 58262, no person shall loiter, idle, wander, stroll, play or otherwise be in or upon the confines of Mt. Pleasant Park or the public areas immediately adjacent thereto between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from November 1 through March 31, and between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. the rest of the year.

B. The curfew imposed in subsection A of this section shall not apply to any person who is occupying such park under the provision of a permit granted by the Board of Public Service or the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry or to public employees while engaged in the performance of their duties.

22.18.026 Curfew in Buder Park.

Notwithstanding the provisions of any other ordinance to the contrary, no person shall loiter, idle, wander, stroll, play or otherwise be in or upon the confines of Buder Park or the public areas immediately adjacent thereto between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. throughout the year.

22.18.030 Parking motor vehicles in parks prohibited when.

No person shall park, or cause to be parked, any motor vehicle in any public park or playground between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. throughout the year, except in connection with activities exempted by Section 22.18.020.

22.18.040 Posting of restrictions.

The department of parks, recreation and forestry shall post a permanent and conspicuous notice of the restrictions of the use of public parks and playgrounds provided by this chapter in every public park and playground in the city.

22.18.050 Penalty for violation.

Any person violating the provisions of this chapter shall, upon being found guilty thereof, be punished by a fine of not less than $1.00 nor more than $500.00.
