17.74.010 Definitions.

The following words when used in this chapter shall have the meaning ascribed to them in this section.

A. "Overdimensional" means any vehicle that is more than fifteen feet (15') high, nine feet (9') wide, forty feet (40') long, excluding tractor trailers which may be fifty-five feet (55') long.

B. "Special vehicle" means self-propelled vehicles over dimension that do not change in size.

C. "Truck route" means public streets designated by the Department of Streets for truck use.

17.74.020 Permit--For travel on truck routes.

Overdimensional self-propelled vehicles may obtain an annual permit from the Department of Streets to travel on truck routes throughout the City.

17.74.030 Permit--Application--Issuance conditions.

All owners or operators of special vehicles may apply to the Director of Streets for an annual permit to run the special vehicle. This vehicle will be inspected by the Department of Streets and certified subject to restriction before said permit is issued.

17.74.040 Annual fee and annual charge.

An initial fee of one hundred dollars ($100.00) and an annual charge of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) shall be made.

17.74.050 Insurance requirements.

Permittee shall furnish proof of proper insurance coverage: $25,000.00 to $100,000.00 for personal injury liability, $25,000.00 for property damage, on file at the permit office or to accompany the application for the permit.

17.74.060 License decal display.

A license decal issued by the Director of Streets shall be prominently displayed at a location approved by the Department of Streets.

17.74.070 Penalty for violation.

Anyone guilty of operating an overdimensional vehicle without a permit shall be in violation of this chapter and subject to a fine of not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00).
