17.12.010 Required position and method.

The required position and method of turning at intersection shall be as follows:

A. Right Turns. Both the approach for a right turn and a right turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right hand curb or edge of the roadway or in a lane designated by signs and/or markings.

B. Left Turns. The driver of a vehicle intending to turn left shall approach the turn in the extreme left hand lane lawfully available or in a lane designated by signs and/or markings to traffic moving in the direction of travel of such vehicle. Whenever practicable the left turn shall be made to the left of the center of the intersection and so as to leave the intersection or other location in the extreme left hand lawfully available to traffic moving in the same direction as such vehicle on the roadway being entered.

17.12.020 Limitations on turning around.

A. The driver of any vehicle shall not turn such vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction unless such movement can be made in safety and without interfering with other traffic.

B. No vehicle shall be turned so as to proceed in the opposite direction upon any curve, or upon the approach to or near the crest of a grade, where such vehicle cannot be seen by the driver of any other vehicle approaching from either direction within 500 feet.

C. The driver of any vehicle shall not turn vehicle so as to proceed in the opposite direction upon any street in the central traffic district, at any intersection controlled by a traffic-control signal, or where posted.

17.12.030 Required position and method of turning.

The Traffic and Transportation Administrator may cause official traffic-control devices to be placed and thereby require and direct that a different course from that specified in this section be traveled by turning vehicles and when such devices are so placed no driver shall turn a vehicle other than as directed and required by such device.
