15.07.010 Definitions.

As used in this chapter:

A. "Automatic dialer alarm system" shall mean any alarm device which automatically dials the telephone number of the police department, fire department, or emergency medical service and uses a pretaped or prerecorded message to alert one or more of these departments that an emergency exists or that the services of one or more of these departments are needed.

B. "9-1-1" shall mean the telephone number dialed to use the Expanded 911 Universal Emergency Number Service provided by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company to the city.

15.07.020 Limitations on automatic dialer alarm systems.

No person shall use, operate or install any device that will, upon activation by automatic means, initiate the dialing, calling or other connection with the Expanded 911 Universal Emergency Number Service in the city.

15.07.030 Violation--Penalty.

Any person, corporation, or other legal entity which violates any of the provisions of this chapter or participates in the violations of its provision, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine of not less than five dollars ($5.00) and not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) or by imprisonment for not more than ninety (90) days or by both such fine and imprisonment.
