Bribery

15.02.010 Penalty for violation.

Every person who shall directly or indirectly give, offer any money, goods, right in action or any other valuable consideration, gratuity or reward, or any promise undertaking or security therefor, to any public officer of the City, or City employee:

A. With intent to influence his vote, opinion, judgment or decision on any question, matter, election, appointment, cause or proceeding which may be then pending, or may by law be brought before him in his official capacity or to induce him to neglect or omit performance of any official duty, or to perform such duty with partiality or favor, or otherwise than is required by law; or

B. In consideration that any such public officer or employee has given any vote, opinion, judgment or decision in any particular manner, or for any particular person, or upon any particular side, or more favorable to one side than the other, in any matter, question, election, cause or proceeding, or has omitted to perform any official act or duty, or has performed such act or duty with partiality or favor, or in anywise contrary to law, shall be guilty of bribery, and be punished by imprisonment in the City Jail or workhouse for not more than six months or by a fine of not less than two hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or by both such fine and imprisonment.

15.02.020 Reward--Conviction of employee or officer.

A reward up to and including five hundred dollars, will be awarded to any person who has supplied accurate information or evidence leading to the conviction and discharge of any employee or official of the City where the employee or official was found guilty of soliciting, accepting a bribe, or having been offered a bribe and failed thereafter to report same to the proper authority, or in any way was corruptly involved in a bribe involving the City.

15.02.030 Reward--Conviction of briber.

The same reward as named in Section 15.02.020 is to be awarded to any person who has supplied accurate information or evidence that leads to the arrest and conviction of any individual or group of individuals who attempts to bribe or offers a bribe to an employee or official of the city.
