Railroads

15.144.010 Applicability.

The provisions of this chapter shall apply to every car, cars or locomotives whether propelled by steam, diesel, electric or other power.

15.144.020 Bell to be sounded when moving.

When moving, the bell of every railroad engine shall be constantly sounded within the city limits.

15.144.030 Man to be stationed on top of car when backing.

If any freight car, cars or locomotives propelled by steam, diesel, electric or other power be backing within the city limits, a man shall be stationed on top of the car at the end of the train farthest from the engine, to give danger signals.

15.144.040 Brakemen.

No freight train shall at any time be moved within the city limits unless it be well manned with experienced brakemen at their posts, who shall be stationed to see the danger signals and hear the signals from the engine.

15.144.050 Steam or other whistles of danger.

Steam or other whistles of danger shall in no case be sounded except in giving usual signals for running trains.

15.144.060 Climbing on cars while in motion.

Any person, minor or adult, who shall climb upon, hold to, or in any manner attach himself to any locomotive engine or car while the same shall be in motion or running into or through this city, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. This section shall not apply to any employee of the railroad company, nor to any passenger, nor to any other person who may be acting by permission or under the rules of the company, then operating the road.
