Harboring Minors

15.121.010 Runaways--Notification.

It shall be unlawful for any person, company, association or corporation to knowingly harbor, hide or give shelter to a minor child under seventeen years of age who has run away from his or her parents or lawful guardians, unless said person, company, association or corporation shall, within twenty-four hours of the minor child's arrival, notify either the police or the Division of Family Services of the minor's presence.

15.121.020 Minors under supervision of juvenile court--Notification.

It shall be unlawful for any person, company, association or corporation to knowingly harbor, hide or give shelter to any child who is under the supervision of the juvenile court, unless said person, company, association or corporation shall, within twenty-four hours of the child's arrival, notify either the police or the Division of Family Services of the child's presence.

15.121.030 Harboring minor who has violated the law.

It shall be unlawful for any person, company, association or corporation to knowingly harbor, hide or give shelter to any child who has committed an act which, if the minor were an adult, would constitute a violation of any federal, state or local law.

15.121.040 Harboring minor more than forty-eight hours.

However, any person that gives shelter to any minor other than his or her own for forty-eight hours or more without written permission of the parent, legal guardian or court shall notify the police of the minor's presence.

15.121.050 Violation--Penalty.

Any person convicted of violating this chapter shall be punished by a fine of no less than $100.00 and no more than $500.00, or imprisoned for 60 days, or both. Each day of harboring a minor in violation of the provisions of this chapter shall constitute a separate offense.
