Reporting Gunshot and Knife Wounds

12.56.010 Report required.

Every practitioner of medicine and surgery licensed under Chapter 334, Revised Statutes of Missouri, 1949, and every practitioner of osteopathy licensed under Chapter 337, Revised Statutes of Missouri, 1949, shall report immediately to the St. Louis Police Department the name and address of each person, if known, and if unknown, the description of such person treated or applying for treatment to such practitioner of an injury caused by or inflicted by gun shot or a knife. The report shall describe the circumstances under which the treatment was rendered by such practitioner.

12.56.020 Failure to report.

Any practitioner of medicine and surgery licensed under Chapter 334, Revised Statutes of Missouri, 1949, and any practitioner of osteopathy licensed under Chapter 337, Revised Statutes of Missouri, 1949, who shall fail to make a report to the St. Louis Police Department as provided in Section 12.56.010 shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon the conviction thereof shall be fined the sum of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars.
