Laser Beams

11.78.010 Harassment prohibited.

It shall be unlawful for any person to focus, point or shine a laser beam directly or indirectly on another person or animal in such a manner as to harass, annoy or injure such person or animal.

11.78.020 Sale to minors prohibited--Exception.

It shall be unlawful to sell, distribute, barter, give away or otherwise grant possession of a laser pointing device to any person under the age of eighteen years unless such laser pointing device is necessary for such person's employment, trade or occupation.

11.78.030 Possessing by minors prohibited--Exception.

It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of eighteen years to possess a laser pointing device unless such laser pointing device is necessary for such person's employment, trade or occupation and it is necessary for the laser pointing device to be carried by such person.

11.78.040 Penalty for violation.

A. Any person found guilty of a violation of Section 11.78.010 or 11.78.030 of this chapter shall be fined an amount of not less than $50.00 nor more than $500.00 or sentenced to a period of confinement not to exceed 90 days or assessed both a fine and a period of confinement.

B. Any person found guilty of a violation of Section 11.78.020 this chapter shall be fined an amount of not less than $250.00 nor more than $500.00 or sentenced to a period of confinement not to exceed 90 days or assessed both a fine and a period of confinement.
