11.24.010 Drugs. McQuillin: 24.410 Generally, pure food and drugs 11.24.010 Drugs. It shall be the duty of every physician within the city prescribing or
ordering for external use any poisonous drug or substance to state in his
prescriptions or orders in plain writing "for external use," and no
apothecary or druggist shall deliver any article thus ordered without the same
being properly labeled with the words "for external use." Any apothecary, druggist, manufacturer or other person violating any
provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. 11.24.020 Poisons. It is not lawful for any person to sell any drug, medicine, chemical or any
other article commonly recognized as a poison, or known to the vendor to be a
poison, when taken internally in a dose of a tablespoonful or less, unless the
same shall be plainly labeled "poison," with the name of the article
and the name and address of the person selling the same. In addition such
label shall bear a skull and cross-bones, so as to indicate to any person
handling such article that it is poisonous. In no case shall any poisonous
article be sold to a minor or other irresponsible person. Any apothecary, druggist, manufacturer or other person violating any
provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor. 11.24.030 Insecticides or exterminators. No person shall give away, sell or offer for sale, as an insecticide or
exterminator, any preparation in powder form containing sodium fluoride or
other salt of hydrofluoric acid, unless such powders are distinctly colored
Nile blue. This section shall not be so construed as to apply to compounds or
preparations of fluorine or to salts of hydrofluoric acid which are intended
