10.08.010 Running at large prohibited.

No goats, cattle or hogs of any description shall be permitted to run at large within the City limits. All cattle, goats, hogs or pigs found running at large within the City limits shall be taken up by the City Marshal and placed in some secure pen or pound, to be provided by him for that purpose.

10.08.020 Advertisement and sale of impounded animals.

Whenever any cattle, goats, hogs or pigs are taken up, under the provisions of Section 10.08.010, it is lawful for the City Marshal, and it is his duty, to sell the same at auction, to the highest bidder, for cash, after having given five days' notice, by advertising in the newspapers doing the City printing, of the time and place of the sale. The place of the sale shall be the City dog pound, and the mode of the sale shall be by selling each animal separately. Moneys arising from the sale shall, after the expense of taking up and selling animals is deducted, be paid over to the owners, on their proving to the City Marshal that the cattle, goats, hogs and pigs belonged to them. If no owner appears within thirty days after the sale, the money, after deducting the costs aforesaid, shall be paid into the City Treasury.

24.303 Impounding, forfeiture, sale or other disposition

10.08.030 Duty of Marshal.

It shall be the duty of the City Marshal at all times to take up any and all cattle, goats, hogs or pigs running at large within the City limits, and employ two or more persons to aid him in enforcing this chapter, whose compensation for taking up such animals shall not exceed fifty cents per head.
