8.64.010 Defined.

A "motor carrier transportation broker," as used in this chapter, is a person offering for compensation, direct or indirect, to bring together or act as agent for a prospective motor vehicle owner or operator (other than a licensed common carrier) and a prospective shipper or passenger, with the object of a mutual arrangement or contract between them whereby the owner or operator shall, for consideration permit the passenger or the property of the shipper to be transported in the motor vehicle.

8.64.020 License--Required.

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate or engage in the business of a motor carrier transportation broker within the city without first obtaining a license to do so as provided for in this chapter.

8.64.030 License--Application.

Application for the license required in Section 8.64.010 shall be made in writing to the License Collector and shall describe in detail the location and the nature of the business to be conducted.

8.64.040 License--Separate.

A separate application and license shall be required for each place of business.

8.64.060 License--Display.

The license shall be displayed in the place of business of the motor carrier transportation broker. No license issued hereunder shall authorize a licensee to do business except from the location shown in the license.

8.64.070 License--Change of address.

If place of business is changed, the license shall be surrendered, and the License Collector shall, without further fee, issue a new license for the unexpired period showing the new.

8.64.080 License Collector to keep register.

The License Collector shall keep a separate register of licensed motor carrier transportation brokers.
