No person shall operate bowling alleys in the City without first having paid to the License Collector the sum of twenty-five dollars for each alley, in each such bowling alley, payable on and after the first day of October of each year.

8.100.470 Exhibitions--License--Required.

No person shall conduct an exhibition, to which an admission fee is charged, of automobile racing, motorcycle racing, baseball, football, basketball, ice skating, ice hockey, soccer, softball, tennis, roller skating, wild west shows, or horse or stock shows in the City without a license. No license shall be required when such exhibitions are conducted wholly for religious, educational, benevolent or charitable purposes, and not for private gain, and the licensee, or any agent, officer or employee thereof, receives no compensation or profit of any kind therefrom.

8.100.480 Exhibitions--License--Fee.

There is levied upon every person conducting any of the exhibitions specified in Section 8.100.470 an annual license tax of five dollars, payable on the first day of July of each year.

8.100.490 Exhibitions--License--Application--Surety.

Application for the license shall be made to the License Collector. The applicant shall file with the License Collector either a bond to the City in the sum of one thousand dollars, with a surety company, approved by the Comptroller as surety, or, if the applicant elects, a cash deposit of five hundred dollars for the use and benefit of the City, conditioned on the payment of the license fee set out in Section 8.100.500 to the License Collector, within the time specified.

8.100.500 Exhibitions--Gross receipts tax.

There is levied upon every licensee under the provisions of Sections 8.100.470--8.100.500 an additional license tax equal to five percent of the gross receipts of the business of conducting or operating each exhibition specified in Section 8.100.470 held in the City. This license tax shall be paid by licensee to the License Collector within forty-eight hours after each exhibition. The accounts and records of licensee shall be checked and audited by the Comptroller, or his authorized representative, prior to the payment of the license fee, to determine the correctness of the amount of the license fee to be paid on the exhibition. Nothing herein shall be construed as a waiver of the right of the City to collect any license tax accrued under any other ordinance, or to prosecute for any violation thereof.

8.100.510 Boxing and wrestling matches--License--Fee.

There shall be annually levied and collected a license tax upon all organizations conducting boxing or sparring exhibitions and wrestling exhibitions in the sum of ten dollars, payable on the first day of July of each year.

8.100.520 Boxing and wrestling matches--License--Application.

Every application for a license required by Sections 8.100.510--8.100.580 shall be made in writing to the License Collector on blank forms furnished to the applicant by the License Collector.

8.100.530 Boxing and wrestling matches--License--Prerequisites--Bond.

No license shall be granted to any applicant without the approval of the City Athletic Commission endorsed thereon. Before any application is so endorsed, the Commission shall be satisfied, after diligent inquiry, that the applicant is law abiding and will conduct the exhibitions in a lawful manner.

The applicant shall execute and file with the Comptroller a bond in the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars. This bond shall be approved by the Comptroller and conditioned for the faithful performance by the applicant of the provisions of Sections 8.100.510--8.100.580 and the rules and regulations of the City Athletic Commission. Upon the filing and approval of this bond, the Comptroller shall issue a certificate of the filing and approval which shall be filed by the applicant in the office of the License Collector with his application for license. No license shall be issued until this certificate is filed.

8.100.540 Boxing and wrestling matches--Gross receipts tax.

There is levied upon every licensee under Sections 8.100.510--8.100.580 an additional license tax equal to five percent of the gross receipts of the business of conducting or operating each boxing, sparring or wrestling exhibition held in the City. This license tax shall be paid by the licensee to the License Collector within forty-eight hours after each exhibition. No gross receipts tax shall be levied upon any boxing, sparring or wrestling exhibition when the exhibitions are conducted wholly for religious, educational, benevolent or charitable purposes and not for private gain, and the licensee, any agent, officer or employee thereof receives no compensation or profit of any kind therefrom.

8.100.550 Boxing and wrestling matches--Deposit may be required.

The City Athletic Commission may require a deposit from the organization sponsoring any boxing, sparring or wrestling exhibition to pay the estimated amount of the gross receipts tax before the permit for the exhibition is issued.

8.100.560 Boxing and wrestling matches--Comptroller to audit accounts.

The accounts and records of the organization controlling the exhibitions shall be checked and audited by the Comptroller, or his authorized representative, prior to the payment of the gross receipts tax to determine the correctness of the amount of the license tax to be paid on the exhibitions.

8.100.570 Boxing and wrestling matches--Permit required.

Any bona fide patriotic, benevolent, fraternal or religious organization which has been in existence and has held meetings at regular intervals during the year preceding the granting of the license provided for in Sections 8.100.510--8.100.580 desiring to promote boxing, sparring or wrestling exhibitions, shall apply to and receive a permit for the exhibitions from the City Athletic Commission before holding the event. This permit shall set forth the date and the place where the exhibition is to be held.

8.100.580 Boxing and wrestling matches--Free passes.

All free passes to attend any boxing, sparring or wrestling exhibition in the City shall be numbered and stamped with the facsimile signature of the Chairman and Secretary of the City Athletic Commission. The total number of free passes to be issued for any such contest in the City shall not exceed two percent of the seating capacity of the place of assembly in which the exhibition shall be held. The City Athletic Commission, its officers, agents and inspectors, shall have authority to exclude from attendance at any exhibition all persons except those who have paid for admission and those having duly authorized free passes.
