Marriage License Fees

5.66.010 Fee imposed.

There is hereby imposed, pursuant to the authority of Section 455.205 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri, a fee of five dollars upon the issuance of a marriage license.

5.66.020 Payment--Collection.

The fee imposed shall be paid by the person applying for the license and shall be collected by the recorder of deeds at the time the license is issued.

5.66.030 Monthly report--Deposit of funds--Administration.

Monthly, the Recorder of Deeds shall file a verified report with the Clerk of the Board of Aldermen, the Register, the Comptroller and the Director of Human Services of the fees collected pursuant to this chapter. The report may be consolidated with the monthly report of other fees collected by the Recorder of Deeds. Upon filing of the reports the Recorder of Deeds shall forthwith pay over to the Treasurer all fees collected pursuant to this chapter. The Treasurer shall deposit such fees upon receipt in a special fund, and said funds including interest, are to be expended only to provide financial assistance to shelter for victims of domestic violence as provided in Sections 455.200--455.230 R.S.Mo., as amended. The Department of Human Services is hereby designated as the authority to request proposals for funding under this chapter, and all such proposals shall be submitted in accordance with state law and City ordinances. The Department of Human Services is hereby designated as the appropriate authority to administer the allocation and distribution of the funds to shelters for victims of domestic violence.
